Before you write

Most questions we get are answered here.

How do I get a new learning path?

Open the Profile tab and tap Regenerate profile & path. Pharos runs the onboarding conversation again and builds a brand-new path from your new answers. Your name and photo are kept.

Note that this replaces your current path, and your progress on the map starts again from the first step.

My path doesn't match my experience — it starts too basic.

Pharos skips fundamentals only when it can tell you already know them, and it learns that from the skills you mention during onboarding. Being specific helps: naming the tools and languages you use gives it much more to work with than "I have some experience".

Open the Profile tab and check the Notes on your path box. If it says the personalised text couldn't be generated, the path was built in fallback mode and nothing was skipped — regenerating usually fixes it. If it keeps happening, write to us.

A resource link is broken or points to the wrong page.

Every link in Pharos comes from a catalog we curate and check by hand — the AI cannot invent one. But websites do move and courses do get retired.

Please send us the step name and the link, and we'll fix the catalog for everyone. This is genuinely the most useful report we can receive.

I set my budget to zero but I see a paid resource.

That shouldn't happen: with a budget of zero, Pharos only selects resources hosted on platforms we treat as free. Some sites, though, offer a course free to watch and charge for the certificate.

If you found something genuinely behind a paywall, send us the step and the link.

The app got stuck while generating my path.

Generating a path needs an internet connection and normally takes under a minute. If the loading screen stays much longer, close and reopen the app — the result is picked up in the background and may already be waiting for you.

If it fails, the app offers a Try again button. Still stuck? Write to us and mention which career you chose.

Do I need an account? Where is my data?

No account, ever. Your name, your photo, your path and your progress live only on your iPhone.

The onboarding conversation is processed offline by a foundation model on the device itself; only an anonymous, technical career profile — no name, no photo, no identifiers — reaches our server. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Everything personal is stored on your device, so removing the app removes it. Our backend keeps no user database and no copy of your path.

If you'd like written confirmation of that, ask us by email and we'll reply.

Which iPhones does Pharos run on?

Pharos needs a recent iPhone running iOS 26 or later, because the onboarding conversation runs on Apple's on-device intelligence. Without it, Pharos falls back to a fixed set of questions and still builds you a path.

Can two of us share one iPhone?

Sequentially, yes; at the same time, not yet. Pharos holds one learner at a time: one path, one progress trail, one name and photo. To hand the device to someone else, open the Profile tab and tap Regenerate profile & path — the interview runs again and the previous path and progress are replaced. The name and photo stay until they are edited, so change those too.

Nothing about either of you exists on our server in either case: there is no account and no user record to separate. Separate profiles on one device, with a one-tap hand-over, are on our roadmap.

Can I see how Pharos actually works?

Yes — the app, the curated catalog, the authority tiers and the checks that run before each release are public at github.com/christianostoni/Pharos. If we ask you to check where information comes from, our own has to be checkable too.

My career isn't in the list.

Pharos covers seven careers today, each with a hand-curated catalog behind it. In onboarding you can tap Something else and describe your role — Pharos will point you to the closest path it can honestly support.

Tell us which career you'd like to see. What people ask for shapes what we curate next.

Who you're writing to

Los Simis — three people, two countries.

Christian (Italy) builds the app and the backend, Serena (Italy) designs the media-and-information-literacy layer and curates the catalog, Elisa (Mexico) leads the learner experience. We are carrying Pharos forward for the UNESCO Youth Hackathon, and we answer our own email — there is no support desk between you and us.
