Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Pharos app (hereafter referred to as the "Application") for mobile devices, created by Los Simis (hereafter referred to as the "Team" or the "Service Provider") as a free service. This service is provided "AS IS".
Los Simis is an independent team of three developers and designers based in Italy and Mexico, carrying Pharos forward for the UNESCO Global MIL Week Youth Hackathon. The Team can be reached at pharos26academy@gmail.com; that address is also the contact point for every request under this Privacy Policy.
In short: your name and photo never leave your device. Pharos has no accounts, no advertising, and no tracking. Only an anonymous career profile — without your name or any identifier — is sent to our server to generate your learning path.
Information the Application Collects
The onboarding conversation in Pharos is processed entirely on your device by an Apple foundation model that runs offline, without an internet connection. Personal details you share in the conversation are extracted and understood on the device itself; the text of that conversation is never transmitted to the Service Provider or to any third party.
To generate your learning path, the Application sends an anonymous career profile to the Service Provider's backend. This profile contains only:
- the career you selected;
- your self-reported experience level, existing skills, and goals;
- your available hours per week, timeframe, budget, and preferred learning formats.
The profile deliberately contains no name, no photo, no email address, no contacts, and no device identifiers. Your name and profile photo are stored only locally on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
The Application does not collect precise location information, does not require an account, and does not include advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Third-Party Services
To provide its service, the Application relies on the following third parties:
- Cloudflare hosts the backend that assembles your learning path. As with any internet service, Cloudflare may process standard connection data (such as your IP address) to deliver the response and protect the service. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini is used by the backend to write the descriptive text of your path. Only the anonymous career profile described above is shared with it — never your name or any personal identifier. Pharos uses an API tier whose terms state that prompts and responses are not used to train or improve the provider's models; the provider retains them only briefly, to detect abuse. The Service Provider may disclose information when required to do so by law, or when disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or to comply with a legal process.
Data Retention
The Service Provider's backend is stateless: it does not maintain a database of user profiles or generated paths. Your generated path, your progress, your name, and your photo are stored only on your device. Deleting the Application deletes this data.
The Application holds one learner profile per device. Using Regenerate profile & path replaces the stored path and its progress with a new one; the name and photo remain until you edit them. If you share a device, keep this in mind: what the previous person left is on the device, never on our server.

Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all use of the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes available on your device. Because all personal data lives on your device, uninstalling removes it.
Links to Learning Resources
Learning paths contain links to third-party websites (courses, documentation, videos). Once you follow such a link, this Privacy Policy no longer applies; the privacy policy of the destination website governs. The Service Provider encourages you to review the privacy practices of any website you visit.
Notifications
If you choose to enable them, the Application uses local notifications (for example, to tell you when your path is ready). These are scheduled on your device and involve no remote push service or server-side processing.
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact the Service Provider at pharos26academy@gmail.com so that the necessary actions can be taken.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Communication with the backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Because personal data (name, photo, progress) never leaves your device, its protection also benefits from your device's own security (such as passcode and encryption).
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this page regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
